AAIC
The Australasian Association of Irlen Consultants is an Incorporated body of licensed Irlen Screeners, Diagnosticians, Clinic Directors and Regional Directors in Australia and New Zealand. All have a background in education, psychology, learning disabilities or professions associated in assisting people with Specific Learning Difficulties and dyslexia. Members of the Association are licensed under the Irlen Institute in Long Beach, California, USA.

The AAIC is the professional body that all Regional Directors and Clinic Directors and Diagnosticians and many Irlen Screeners belong to. As members of the AAIC they are bound by the association’s Code of Ethics. The objectives of the AAIC include the promotion of Irlen throughout Australasia and the maintenance of high professional standards by its members.

Irlen Screeners are trained to do an initial assessment to determine whether or not a client has Irlen Syndrome (previously known as Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome). Irlen Screeners are associated with the various Irlen Clinics that are situated throughout Australia and New Zealand. (See contact details under ‘Centres’)

An Irlen Screener, having assessed a client, will make a recommendation as to whether or not they should be referred on to the local Irlen Clinic for more diagnostic testing and the possible provision of Irlen Spectral Filter glasses.

Anyone who has done the self screening test for Irlen Syndrome and the indications are that they could have Irlen Syndrome, should contact their nearest Irlen Clinic for details re an assessment.
